Click Here to link to the Income Tax Department page.

The City of Van Wert has initiated mandatory filing for all Van Wert City residents, regardless of where they work and whether or not they have been withheld by their employer.

Tax Filings are now required annually for individuals residing within the Van Wert City limits with the following exceptions:

Retired and disabled residents must also file for the tax year 2005.  "Retired" or "Disabled" can be written in the wage box (line 1) of such forms.  Such an account will be closed out upon our receipt of the return.  Applicable individuals will not be subject to mandatory filings in future years provided the individual has no taxable income.
Additional Exceptions are listed in "Tax Return Instructions" within the Income Tax Department web page".

Schedule "X" defines a number of common questions on taxable income.

Filing of a Return or Extension Request is due April 15th, 2006.  Extensions will be charged 2% interest per month on tax which is due at filing of the return.

Municipal Tax Forms are available through links on the Income Tax Department web page, along with generic forms through various tax preparers and computer programs.

Failure to file a tax return and appropriate income statements (W-2's, 1099's, Federal Schedules, etc.) will result in penalty and interest as well as prosecution for a misdemeanor offense.

Monthly Brush Pickup

This is a monthly pick-up.  Brush (no leaves, no bags, boxes or yard waste) should be taken to the curb Sunday evening to be assured that it won't be missed early Monday morning.  Once your street has been done the crews will not return until the following month. The is no schedule by street or by ward.

The first Monday of every month there will be a pick-up unless a holiday occurs on that day.
