The Parks Department consists of three full-time employees year round.  Temporary help increases the work force during the warmer months of the year.  The Park Director is involved in supervising, purchasing, budgeting, project management, long-range planning, initiating programs, and coordinating activities.  The City Tree Program, which involves an extensive tree maintenance, removal, and planting of trees along the street terraces, is also managed by the Parks Director.

Two park maintenance personnel perform building and ground maintenance of the parks and various city properties. Pictured is a park employee seeding newly donated park acreage north of Smiley Park.   Maintenance personnel use zero turn radius mowers with a 60-inch deck to mow park grounds.  These employees played an integral role in the renovation of the baseball infields with the addition of crushed clay surfacing.  In addition to "hands on work," they also supervise several temporary employees.

During the peak months of the year, the Parks Department hires seven maintenance employees to perform essential duties such as mowing, landscaping, field preparation, restroom maintenance, and special project programs.

Since the warmer months bring an increase in recreational programs and activities, a seasonal recreation supervisor is hired. This person manages concession operations, implements activities, and oversee the baseball and softball programs. The recreation supervisor oversees six to eight concession attendants, hired to perform duties in the park concession operations, and the staff of umpires for the softball and baseball programs.

A temporary clerical employee assists the Park Director with office duties such as computer data entry, filing, accounting, office traffic, registration, and reservations.
