Van Wert Police News Release For Civil Service Exam

RELEASE: July 31, 2014
The Civil Service Commission of the City of Van Wert, Ohio will hold a competitive examination to create an eligibility list for the appointment of a Police Officer to the Van Wert City Police Department on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 0900 A.M., at the Vantage Career Center at 818 North Franklin Street in the City of Van Wert, Ohio. The department is looking to fill one current vacancy from this examination eligibility list.
All persons wishing to take this examination must file an Application with the City Police Department, City Building, 515 East Main Street, Van Wert, Ohio, on or before 4:00 P.M., Monday, August 25, 2014.
Application Packets will be available starting at 8:00 A.M. on August 11 at the Van Wert Police Communications Center, Room 116 (1st floor).
Conditions for Application:
All applicants must be a citizen of the United States of America, or have a valid permanent residency card and reside in the State of Ohio, you must also reside in Van Wert County or an adjoining county within the state or signify in writing his/her intention to become a Van Wert county or adjoining Ohio county resident upon permanent appointment.
Minimum/Maximum Age – applicants for Original appointment examination to the Police Department must have attained the age of 21 years on or before the date of appointment. No Person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment to the Police Department on or after his/her 35th birthday.
Pay and Benefits:
Starting hourly rate: $ 16.52 Maximum hourly rate: $22.21
