Van Wert maintains a municipal water system that
comprises five departments: Water treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection,
Wastewater Treatment, and Water Office.
The Van Wert Water Office is the utility payment center for water and sewer bills.
In addition, the Water Distribution Departmentıs water connections and shut-offs are also
routed through this office. The department consists of two employees who are
responsible for the collection of an estimated 4600 bills each month.
This office also collects the usage information from meter readers
and places the
data into a computer.

"Van Wert Water Works".

Payments
are not accepted over the telephone.
Credit
and Debit cards are accepted through
Visa, MasterCard,
and Discover.
Payments in person may be made at the walk-up
window next to the elevator within the Municipal Building. A handicap
entrance is at the rear of the building. Other visitor parking is
located on the west side of the building.
Drive up payments
are available along with envelope deposits placed in the drop-off slot.
Direct Payments with drawn automatically from
one's checking account may be made by printing out, completing, and submitting
the Direct Payment Form. It is also
necessary to include a deposit slip from the account
ones financial
institution.
Usage bills are due 15 days after the mailing date. A 10% penalty is a required part
of payment after the due date. When a payment has not been received, a notice of
delinquency is mailed within 3 days after the due date. Five days after the mailing
of the notice of delinquency, services can be discontinued if all fees have not been paid.
During the quarterly readings of water use, members of this department watch for
abnormally high usage, which may indicate a water leak. When a condition has been
noted, the customer is notified by phone; or a high usage alert notice is mailed.
Customers are encouraged to contact the water office if they have a reason to
suspect a leak.
