The curb side customer separates cycling in to paper
products and all other "commingled" recyclables. These
materials go into one of two truck compartments. Pictured is a
recycling truck unloading it's paper product compartment.
Once it has arrived at the recycling center the "commingled"
recyclables are placed on a conveyor and taken up to a separation
station.
Once at the separation station, labor supplied from the
local jail divides materials up by categories. The materials are
placed in large bins or other containers.
The materials in the large bins are then route to
compressing units which strap each category into large bundles.
The bundles are then loaded onto trucks that are parked the
loading dock.
Paper products are also separated in a similar
manner. The products are compressed, bundled, and are
shipped out.
